Divorce

In Canada, most couples are allowed a divorce on the basis of marriage breakdown as shown by a separation of one year or more. In some situations, a court may allow a divorce on the basis of cruelty and/or adultery (e.g., intimate relations outside of the marriage). However, if you wish to get a divorce on the basis of cruelty and/or adultery, it is generally more difficult and expensive.
